Veterinarian

Dr. Julie Bartz recently moved from Phoenix to California. An ocean lover, she enjoys scuba diving, swimming, and paddle boarding - especially with sharks. She earned a journalism degree from the University of Missouri, worked as a flight attendant, then became a vet after graduating from the University of Wisconsin in 2004. She enjoys internal medicine, dermatology, anesthesia, dentistry, and geriatric care. She lives in Encinitas with her rescue dogs Rolo and Trudie.

Dr. Julie Bartz is a new California resident having just recently moved here from Phoenix Arizona. She has always been a lover of the ocean and is an avid scuba diver, swimmer, and paddle boarder. She particularly loves diving with sharks!

Dr. Bartz completed her undergraduate degree in Journalism at the University of Missouri in Columbia. She then took another detour and became a flight attendant for many years prior to pursuing her career path to veterinary medicine. She graduated from the University of Wisconsin School of Veterinary Medicine in 2004.

Dr. Bartz particularly enjoys internal medicine, dermatology, anesthsia, and dentistry. She also has a passion for geriatric care and has spent the last 6 years performing compassionate in home euthanasia for beloved furry family members. She also has experience with practice ownership as she owned DC Ranch Animal hospital in Scottsdale Arizona for 9 years.

Dr. Bartz resides in Encinitas with her 2 dogs Rolo, a senior Boxer , and Trudie, a middle aged “pocket bully” . Both were rescues from her time in Arizona.

She pursued her undergraduate education at the University of Minnesota and later attended vet school at the University of Tennessee. In her leisure hours, Dr. Ellis finds solace in reading and bouldering. Interestingly, her roller derby name was Hermione Danger.

Dr. Beccari's love for animals began young, despite never owning pets. He tried taming local wildlife until adopting gerbils named Rocky and Adrian. Nearby pets and a neighbor's Shih-Tzu sparked his passion further. His love for science and animals led him to veterinary medicine. He graduated from Cornell in 1995, where he met his wife, Justie. They moved west, bought AAH in 1999, and welcomed partners in 2007. He excels in diagnostics, surgery, and ultrasound. He enjoys time with his family, travel, and is learning guitar.

Dr. Reimann grew up loving the outdoors and animals. A sick fish sparked her passion for animal care. She graduated from McGill and Cornell Vet School in 1994. With husband Dr. Beccari, she moved to California in 1995 and bought Academy Animal Hospital in 1999. She enjoys connecting with pet owners and solving medical cases. They have 2 daughters and 8 pets: 3 dogs - Rocket, Sebastian, Bella - and 5 cats - Otto, Dixie, Toby, Pierre, Briar. She loves hiking, camping, skiing, traveling, and yoga.
