Academy Animal Hospital is proud to serve the Solana Beach CA area for everything pet related. Our veterinary hospital is owned by Drs. John Beccari and Justie Reimann. Each doctor has over 20 years of experience in the veterinary field.Our team is committed to educating our clients on how to keep their pets healthy year-round, regular wellness check-ups, good nutrition, and exercise. Academy Animal Hospital stays on top of the latest advances in veterinary technology and above all, remembers that all animals and pets need to be treated with loving care in every check-up, procedure, or surgery.

Dr. Ellis had a diverse upbringing that took her to various locations across the country. She pursued her undergraduate education at the University of Minnesota and later attended vet school at the University of Tennessee. In her leisure hours, Dr. Ellis finds solace in reading and bouldering. Interestingly, her roller derby name was Hermione Danger.

Lesli began her veterinary career at 16 at Academy Animal Hospital, where she worked for 14 years before moving into veterinary management. She spent 25 years in operations and consulting, helping start several hospitals, including Mountain View Animal Hospital in Big Bear. Wanting to return to daily hospital life, she came back to Academy Animal Hospital. Lesli enjoys time with her husband Neil, daughter Caroline, and their six pets, often spending weekends at Caroline's softball games.

Dr. Reimann grew up loving the outdoors and animals. A sick fish sparked her passion for animal care. She graduated from McGill and Cornell Vet School in 1994. With husband Dr. Beccari, she moved to California in 1995 and bought Academy Animal Hospital in 1999. She enjoys connecting with pet owners and solving medical cases. They have 2 daughters and 8 pets: 3 dogs - Rocket, Sebastian, Bella - and 5 cats - Otto, Dixie, Toby, Pierre, Briar. She loves hiking, camping, skiing, traveling, and yoga.

Jade joined Academy Animal Hospital with a warm smile and a genuine passion for helping people and their pets.

Chelsea Runyon joined Academy Animal Hospital with a strong foundation in animal care and a lifelong passion for helping pets feel safe and understood. Before entering veterinary medicine, she worked at a busy doggie daycare, where she gained hands-on experience in behavior, enrichment, and caring for dogs of all ages and personalities.
