Dr. Alexis Diffley

Veterinarian

Dr. Alexis Diffley, a native of San Diego, California, received her undergraduate degree in Biology/Zoology from California State Polytechnic University, Pomona. Before embarking on a veterinary career, Dr. Diffley gained valuable experience as a zookeeper/animal care specialist for seven years and volunteered at various animal shelters, small zoos, and aquariums throughout Southern and Northern California. In 2018, Dr. Diffley completed an externship in wildlife medicine in South Africa, further enhancing her expertise in animal care.

Dr. Diffley earned a veterinary medical degree from Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine on the island of St. Kitts and completed her clinical year at the University of Tennessee. During this time, she began fostering shelter animals and adopted her cat, Willow on her shelter medicine rotation, who has been a beloved companion ever since. Following graduation, Dr. Diffley lived and worked in Las Vegas, Nevada for four years and decided to finally move back to her hometown of San Diego 2 years ago. Her professional interests include soft tissue surgery, exotic medicine, shelter medicine, and preventative care and client education.

In her free time, she enjoys traveling around the world, engaging in outdoor activities such as kayaking and cycling, indulging in arts and crafts, and spending quality time with family and friends.

Dr. Erica Ellis

Medical Director

Dr. Ellis had a diverse upbringing that took her to various locations across the country. She pursued her undergraduate education at the University of Minnesota and later attended vet school at the University of Tennessee. In her leisure hours, Dr. Ellis finds solace in reading and bouldering. Interestingly, her roller derby name was Hermione Danger.

Dr. Justie Reimann

Veterinarian

Dr. Reimann grew up loving the outdoors and animals. A sick fish sparked her passion for animal care. She graduated from McGill and Cornell Vet School in 1994. With husband Dr. Beccari, she moved to California in 1995 and bought Academy Animal Hospital in 1999. She enjoys connecting with pet owners and solving medical cases. They have 2 daughters and 8 pets: 3 dogs - Rocket, Sebastian, Bella - and 5 cats - Otto, Dixie, Toby, Pierre, Briar. She loves hiking, camping, skiing, traveling, and yoga.
